We would like to remind you about the "Packaging Waste Management Assessment and a guide to set up a packaging waste management system in Armenia based on the principle of EPR" study Final Report Presentation by Mr. Kyriakos Parpounas, Managing Director of Parpounas Sustainability Consultants company.


The participants of the meeting will be the relevant Ministries, the International donor community, AmCham and Partner NGOs' Board of Directors, and more.


AmCham and other Armenian business community members joined the efforts to establish a transparent, efficient, and sustainable post-consumer waste management system to meet Armenia's obligations with the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment of RA and Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of RA.


Within the Project the Agency:


  • Assessed the current situation with the management of the Selected Waste Types, including generation, sorted and unsorted collection, and recycling rates
  • Developed a list of potential benchmark companies considered from different industries which can have an impact and did a deeper assessment of the value chain of the specific products associated with the Selected Waste Types
  • Identified solutions and an Action plan for Waste Management and Environmentally Sound Treatment of the Selected Waste Types.

    Kyriakos Parpounas, Managing Director of PSC, has extensive experience as a consultant for EPR and DRS systems internationally for various waste streams. He was the General Manager of 3 EPR organizations in Cyprus for 12 years [Green Dot, Afis, WEEE] for packaging, WEEE, and Batteries. He is also experienced and provides consultancy services for the development of ESG strategies and ESG reporting for organizations. He designs EPR and DRS systems for the industry in many countries and provides capacity-building support to governments and the industry. Kyriakos has worked on projects for the EU, UNEP, EXPRA, CLI, etc. He also has experience in designing and managing European- funded programs and he also regularly conducts educational programs for sustainability, environmental protection, waste management, EPR, and DRS, etc.

    Kyriakos was a founding member of the Cyprus CSR network, he is a Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) certified practitioner, a certified social auditor by Austrian Standards, a certified Data Protection Officer and GDPR Trainer by PECB, and a Certified Trainer by the Cyprus Human Resource Development Authority [level 5].

    His qualifications include:

    • Ph.D.(c) in Business Administration, Organizational Sustainability, University of Cyprus
    • Master’s in business administration (Hons), Finance, Texas A&M University, (USA)
    • Diploma of Technician Engineer in Civil Engineering Higher Technical Institute, Cyprus
